Mahdia child, 4, found dead in car

Police in Region Eight are investigating the death of a 4-year-old child who was discovered in a car at Mahdia on Tuesday morning.

The dead child has been identified as Kemal Ramsammy.

Stabroek News understands that the incident occurred sometime between 08.15hrs and 10.00hrs at 111 Miles Mahdia.

Reports are that Ramsammy’s mother went to work leaving him in his grandmother’s care.

This newspaper was told that upon her return from work, the mother enquired about Ramsammy and was told that he was probably playing outside in the yard.

As a result, she went to check for him and discovered him lying motionless in the backseat of a motor vehicle, PHH 8650 which was parked next to their home.

The vehicle doors were closed and the windows were up.

An alarm was raised and Ramsammy was taken out of the car. He was rushed to the Mahdia where he was pronounced dead.

His body is currently at the hospital mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
