A 17-year-old of Kairuni Village, Linden-Soesdyke Highway, was on Saturday afternoon struck down and killed while riding his motorcycle on the Linden-Soesdyke Highway.

The deceased teen has been identified as Stanton Garraway. The accident occurred at around 2.25pm on the Silver Hill Public Road, Linden-Soesdyke Highway.

Police yesterday reported that the teen was struck down by a motorcar bearing registration number HC 5011 which was driven by Augustine Klass of Kairuni Village.

According to the police report, Garraway was allegedly riding north along the thoroughfare at a fast rate while the hire car driver was proceeding east on a trail which is located on the western side of the road. The motor car suddenly turned south onto the Soesdyke-Linden Highway into the path of Garraway. This resulted in the motorcycle colliding with the right side of the car.

Garraway subsequently fell onto the road surface with injuries sustained about his head and body.

Both Garraway and Klass were picked up in a semi-conscious state by public spirited citizen and rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex.

On arrival at the hospital, Garraway was pronounced dead while the driver of the car was admitted for head injuries sustained. He was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he remains hospitalised.
