Pensioners need a quick solution to this pension issue

Dear Editor,

I am writing in connection with the monthly Old Age Pension of $28,000 per month. About 2 ½ weeks ago I read in the press that VP Jagdeo was looking into Old Age Pension for Senior Citizens;  to date we Old Age Pensioners haven’t heard further. The $28,000 per month is not livable, I personally would spend $300 taxi fare to go to the supermarket every Wednesday and another $300 to return home, out of $ 28,000 – less taxi fare of $600 – remaining $27.400, this sum can only buy bread, a little butter for the bread, a small piece of cheese and a small bottle of coffee, not having other grocery items that pensioners needed. We Old Age Pensioners needed a quick solution to this pension issue or else a lot of us will die from starvation (we may have to beg on the streets). Old Age Pensioners in Guyana are treated like droppings from the animals. Mr. Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo we need your action quickly.

Sincerely,
