The PPP understands the power of social media, the opposition apparently does not

Dear Editor,

Irfaan  Ali visited Linden yesterday. He took globally known soca king, Machel Montano, with him. He did not visit opposition supported communities in that town. He went to Coomacka, a community that supports the PPP. Ali did not take Montano to Victory Valley or Canvas City, he went directly to his support base in that town. This is not election season but he knows that to visit his support base with an international artiste such as Machel will make them happy. They will feel special. Ali and his PPP under-stands the power of social media and they are fully utilising it. The Opposition must do same.

The PNCR party chairman in Region 10 who is also a Member of Parliament can make time to shake Ali’s hand while smiling broadly at the National Stadium but as a paid opposition politician he cannot take some of his

supporters with placards and confront Ali on the state of Linden under the regime. There is no photo or video circulating with people calling Ali out at Coomacka. The Regional Chairman, Deron Adams, has lost the trust and confidence of the people in that region. He couldn’t see it fit to lead our supporters with smartphones and call Ali out in the presence of Machel.

While Ali cares about optics, Adams and Figgy could care less about boosting the morale of our supporters. There is no struggle left in them. Election season will come and they will barefacedly run to our supporters to ensure they vote. Adams is comfortable without a Vice Chairman. The PNC has become so lethargic that they cannot see the importance of having a Regional Vice Chairman since the passing of the last one, years ago. The Guyanese world is watching the current opposition. It must now become active and begin the daily struggle to counter Ali’s every move. You are being paid good money to represent the people.

Sincerely,

Norman Browne
