Two gold miners and a boat captain appeared at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court on Monday where they were charged with raping a 32-year-old Venezuelan woman.
Ryan Hendro, 24, of Sheet Anchor, Berbice; Aubrey Garraway also known as ‘Denzel Chance’, 22, of Second Avenue, Bartica; and Kevin Pollard also called ‘Chiney’, of Itaballi Landing, were all arraigned before Magistrate Crystal Lambert where the charge was read separately to them.
Although they were not required to plead to the indictable charge, Hendro and Pollard were subsequently released on $300,000 bail each, while Garraway was remanded to prison.
The matter was then adjourned until October 21, 2022.
According to the police, the incident took place on September 26 at Second Avenue, Bartica, Essequibo River.
