After pleading guilty to her charge on Wednesday, 21-year-old Jennise Hinds was fined $40,000 for assaulting another woman.

It was stated that Hinds, of Lot 35 Block ‘E’, South Sophia, Georgetown, unlawfully assaulted Jennifer Validen so as to cause her actual bodily harm at Bourda Market in Georgetown on September 3rd.

According to the facts heard in court, on the day of the incident, at about 12:20 hours, the victim was shopping at Bourda Market when Hinds passed her going in the opposite direction. It was at this point that the defendant turned around and sprayed pepper spray in Validen’s face and fled.

As a result of the burning sensation and discomfort likely produced by the spray, Validen was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where she was examined and issued with a medical certificate.

The matter was then reported to the police and Hinds was arrested and charged. Due to her guilty plea, Hinds was fined $40,000 or in default, 4 weeks behind bars.
