President announces scheme to reverse challenges faced by young men

President Irfaan Ali has announced the launch of a 1000-men programme aimed at reversing the challenges faced by young men in Guyana.

The Head of State made this announcement during his address at a religious function at the Leguan Masjid today, a release from the Office of the President said.

The programme will bring together senior members of the army, police, religious leaders, sports personalities, teachers and businessmen, among others, the release said.

Ali further explained that the 1000-men programme will deal with issues involving young men.

The members of the programme will be deployed across the country and will be tasked with integrating young Guyanese men into the economic and social life of the country, the release added.

The programme aims to help develop and guide youths in the society.

The Head of State was joined by senior members of the Army, the Guyana Police Force and members of the business community.
