Ministry of Health must cater for patients in all regions

Dear Editor,

As a ninety one year old patient of the audiology clinic at Bartica hospital, I have been without a hearing aid for some time and because my hearing is almost completely gone, I was glad when I learnt that gov’t had purchased a quantity of hearing aids and I would hear from the clinic soon. Sadly, none never came.

On enquiring, I learnt that the ministry had decided to issue these aids to patients in Region # 4 first and then to other regions. I was appalled. Was the Minister of Health issuing aids in areas where gov’t received the most votes? I hope not! I would want to think that the ministry would cater for patients in all regions simultaneously.

Editor, I see a trend in our country’s administration where the people in charge make decisions that results in the suffering of the needy. So citizens are forced to appeal to President Ali. This should never be. Mr. Alli is a busy man, the affairs of state alone must be a tremendous burden! I am grateful that despite this fact, President Ali is always willing to listen to the small man.

Mr. President, I am requesting that you investigate and instruct those so that justice and fair play would prevail in issuing of hearing aids. Thank you, Sir!

Sincerely,

E. B. Lobert
