Regional hospitals receive new All-Terrain Vehicles

On Monday, Minister of Health, Dr Frank Anthony handed over the keys to ten All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) to Health Repre-sentatives from Region One (Barima-Waini), Region Seven (Cuyuni-Maza-runi), Region Eight (Potaro-Siparuni) and Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo), to strengthen their transport system within the region.

A release from the Ministry of Health said that the ATVs were purchased under the World Bank COVID-19 Response Project.

Dr Anthony stated that while the ATVs will be assigned to various health centres within the regions they will be of general use to the health systems in the regions.

Among those present at the handing over were Dr. Leslie Ramsammy, Advisor to the Minister of Health; Dr Vishwa Mahadeo, Director General of the Ministry of Health’s Regional Health Services; Sonia Roberts, Director of the Health Sectors Development Unit; Dr Veronica Griffith, Deputy Director of Regional Health Services and Michael Gouveia, Hinterland Coordinator.
