Eleven teen girls to vie for Miss Police Youth Ambassador next month

The 11 teenage girls who won local titles in their respective regions and divisions will now compete against each other in the Miss Police Youth Ambassador Pageant at the National Cultural Centre on November 6.

The 11 girls are Akeelah D’Oliveira of Region One, Ocynthia Holder of Region Two, Aurelia Parag of Region Three, Shenica Daniels of Region Four, Arian Fraser of Region Five, Saskia Wille of Region Six, Novita Pawalae of Region Seven, Sarah Joseph of Region Nine, Syesha Fraser of Region Ten, Kelsey Bernard representing Regional Division 4 (B) and Jasmine Wiggins representing Regional Division 4 (C).

During the ‘Beauty with a Purpose’ ceremony which was held last Sunday at the Kingston Seawall Bandstand, the girls were sashed by Deputy Commissioner of Administration (ag) Calvin Brutus. During their pageantry journey, they were taken to a number of monuments around Guyana to expand their travel experiences and to also educate them. Pink roses were also given to them by various police officers of the different regions as part of Breast Cancer Awareness month.

According to a release from the Guyana Police Force, Woman Assistant Superintendent Jillian Moore, a survivor of breast cancer, shared with the girls some experiences on the advantages of being tested early. She told them “early detection saves lives”.

Preparations are ongoing for the big night, when the teenagers are expected to participate in a number of segments showcasing their talents and beautifully sewn gowns.
