Coomacka woman, 19, dies after speeding car flips

A 19-year-old woman is now dead after the car she was travelling in was involved in an accident along the Coomacka Mines Road, Region Ten yesterday morning.

Dead is Tiffany Forde, of Coomacka Mines.

Police yesterday confirmed that an investigation is ongoing into the accident which took place around 02.30 hrs.

At the time, Forde was one of three occupants of motor car PXX 7789. She was seated in the front passenger seat. The other passenger, who was in the back seat, has been identified as Joel Rawlins, 22. The car was driven by 28-year-old Jermaine Lewis. He along with Rawlins were taken into police custody after the accident and are said to be assisting the police with investigation.

According to a police report, enquiries disclosed that the car was proceeding north along the eastern side of Coomacka Mines access road at a fast rate of speed, when Lewis lost control of the vehicle.

The car flipped several times before coming to a halt on the northern side of the road, the police said.

Forde sustained injuries about her body. She was picked up in an unconscious condition and rushed in an ambulance to the Linden Hospital Complex, where she was pronounced dead.

The police said Lewis was subjected to two breathalyser tests, which found .29 and .31 micrograms of alcohol in his breath, which is under the legal limit.

Forde’s body is presently at the Linden Hospital’s mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
