Corentyne mechanic arrested over unlicensed firearm, ammo

A mechanic was on Monday arrested with an unlicensed firearm and ammunition at Nurney Village, Corentyne after the police in Berbice responded to a threatening behaviour call and discovered the suspect at the location armed.

According to the Guyana Police Force, on Monday around 11.15 pm, ranks were responding to a report of threatening behaviour when they recovered a .32 pistol and seven live rounds of ammunition from Nicosi Henry, 32, of Nurney Village, Corentyne, who was arrested at the location.

According to the statement, after receiving a call of threatening behaviour, Berbice ranks arrived at the location where they observed the 32-year-old man sitting aback a house on a dam. The man was approached by the ranks who told him of the reason for their presence.

 “During a search conducted on the man, the ranks found the .32 pistol along with a magazine containing seven (7) live rounds on the ground next to the man”, the police said.

The suspect was arrested and escorted to the Whim Police Station along with the firearm and ammunition.
