A private jet which landed at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), Timehri was  broken into last week and a quantity of items were stolen. The police have since arrested three suspects, one of whom confessed to committing the crime.

Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum yesterday confirmed that the suspect who has been identified as Albert Rajram also known as ‘Bunny’ of Circuit Road, Timehri was arrested yesterday.

He was questioned during which he confessed to the crime, Blanhum said.

The stolen items which include alcoholic beverages and electronic items were also recovered.

According to information reaching Stabroek News, Rajram told the police that he dug a hole under the perimeter fence of CJIA and made his way onto the airport tarmac. If true, his activities will raise questions about security at the airport.

Once he had penetrated the perimeter  fence he then broke into the aircraft and stole the items.

Two other suspects are also in police custody as the investigation continues into the incident which occurred sometime between Wednesday, October 26 and Friday, October 28.

Reports are that the aircraft bearing registration number N111RE arrived here on Wednesday afternoon. It parked close to the Guyana Defence Air Corps.

Stabroek News was told that when the pilots returned on Friday to prepare the flight for takeoff, they discovered that there was a breach to the main door of the aircraft.

An alarm was immediately raised and a search was carried out during which the items were discovered missing.

The aircraft departed Guyana for Texas, USA on Friday. It flew officials from an international company here to attend a meeting.
