Guyana bundled out of FIBA AmeriCup after consecutive losses

Following their unbeaten run in the qualifiers to seal a berth to the main draw of the FIBA 3×3 AmeriCup Championship men’s division, team Guyana was bundled out of the event yesterday, following consecutive losses to Canada and Mexico in Pool C at the AT&T East Plaza in Miami, Florida.

The Guyanese lost to Canada in their final pool match 9-21. In their earlier match in the division, Guyana lost 15-16 to Mexico. Earlier in the day, Guyana defeated Haiti and Ecuador in the qualifying round to seal their berth to the main draw.

Guyana defeated Ecuador 13-12 in overtime, before overcoming Haiti 19-17. The Guyanese had defeated Aruba on Friday in their first qualifying match 20-14. The team consisted of Shelroy Thomas, Nikkoloi Smith, and siblings Delroy and Gordon James.
