Troy Billey, a 32-year-old driver of Lot 26 Wismar Hill, Linden was arrested on 2022-11-09 and charged with the offence of Possession of Narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
The police yesterday said that the offence occurred on 2022-11-07 at Aurora Gold Mines, Cuyuni River and involved 38.27 grams of cannabis.
The charge was laid under Section 5(1)(a)(i) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Control Act 10:10.
Billey was charged with the said offence on Thursday 10th November.
He appeared in the Bartica Magistrate’s Court via Zoom before Magistrate Crystal Lambert.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail in the sum of $50,000.
The matter was adjourned to the 19th December 2022 for filing of statements.
