Prisoners complete anger management training

The Ministry of Health’s Mental Health Unit in collaboration with the Guyana Prison Service,  on Friday hosted graduations for a total of 39 inmates from the Georgetown, Lusignan and Timehri Prisons.

The inmates successfully completed Stress and Anger Management training workshops which were spearheaded by the Mental Health Unit, a release from the Ministry said.

In attendance were Tessa McGarrell, Officer in Charge (ag) Welfare & Corrections Department, Guyana Prison Service, Dr. Timothy Morgan, Head of the Mental Health Unit, Officers in Charge  Koffe David and Amias Benjamin from the Lusignan & Timehri Prisons respectively, graduating inmates & their families.

The release said that the officials from the Guyana Prison Service expressed their appreciation to the Ministry of Health, for this collaborative initiative aimed at improving the mental health of the inmates.

The release said that the inmates also spoke about how the training had improved their mental health.
