City Mayor Ubraj Narine moved a motion at yesterday’s statutory meeting that former Town Clerk Royston King be paid outstanding sums in full within 72 hours.

Town Clerk Candacy Nelson, in agreement said that King would be paid within the 72 hours.

The motion was supported by Councillors Patricia Chase-Green, Oscar Clarke, Yvonne Ferguson, Dexter Forde, Gregory Fraser and John Vanveen. According to Narine, “what goes for one goes for all”, he said in responding to the administration’s decision to go ahead with payments to another former Town Clerk Carol Sooba before the council’s final approval.

Three months after a Judge ordered that King be paid his almost $30 million in outstanding benefits, the  Georgetown Mayor and City Council’s had made a part payment but it is now expected that King will be paid in full.
