Young Corentyne teacher died from heart attack

The teacher attached to the Skeldon Line Path Secondary School who died on Friday after suddenly collapsing, succumbed to a heart attack, a post-mortem examination done on Tuesday revealed.

Dharmini Parshad, 26, was at the school to start her day as the institution was preparing for the much-anticipated graduation on Friday where Parshad’s sister was expected to graduate as the best student.  Dharmini collapsed around 08.15 hrs in the staff room after informing those around her that she was feeling “bad” and was experiencing chest pains.

She was immediately picked up and rushed to the Skeldon Public Hospital where she died about thirty minutes after arriving.

A post-mortem examination carried out on Tuesday revealed that the young teacher died as a result of (a) Myocardial Infarction, (b) Coronary Occlusion, (c) Atheroma.

Following the post-mortem, the body of the deceased was handed over for burial to the relatives.

Parshad was described as a kind and quiet young woman who was full of potential. She is survived by her husband, who teaches at the same school, her sister, also a teacher, and her parents.
