Teen dies in Le Ressouvenir crash, driver critical

Police are probing a fatal accident which occurred around 01:15 hrs this morning on Le Ressouvenir Public Road, East Coast Demerara.

 

The accident involved motor car #PKK 2362, owned by Shiraz Ali of Lot 18 Blossom Scheme, Enmore, East Coast Demerara and which was being driven at the time by a male (whose name and address are so far unknown).

 

In a statement, the police say there were two other occupants in the vehicle at the time — Sudesh Mahadeo (now deceased), an 18-year-old of Lot 20 Bee Hive, East Coast Demerara, who was seated on the left front passenger seat, and Komal Rewtie, a 19-year-old of Bee Hive, who was seated on the rear passenger seat.

 

Enquiries disclosed that motorcar #PKK 2362 was proceeding east along the northern carriageway of Le Ressouvenir Public Road at a fast rate when the driver lost control of the vehicle. In the process, the vehicle spun twice and collided with a concrete fence just off the road’s northern edge.

 

Due to this collision, Mahadeo was flung through the front windshield onto the road surface. An ambulance was summoned to the scene, where the doctor on duty pronounced Mahadeo dead. The body was subsequently taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital’s mortuary and is awaiting a post-mortem examination.

 

The driver was admitted as a patient of the Georgetown Public Hospital in critical condition.
