Bee Hive teen dies after early morning crash

A teenager is now dead and two others are injured after the car in which they were in was involved in an accident along the Le Ressouvenir Public Road, on the East Coast of Deme-rara, during the wee hours of yesterday morning.

Dead is Sudesh Mahadeo, 18, of Lot 20 Bee Hive, ECD.

One of the injured persons has been identified as Komal Rewtie, 19, also of Bee Hive, ECD. The identity of the driver of the car could not be confirmed by this newspaper up to press time.

The ill-fated vehicle, PKK 2362, following the accident

Police yesterday confirmed that an investigation has been launched into the accident, which occurred around 01.15hrs.

At the time, Mahadeo was seated in the front passenger seat of the car, PKK 2362 owned by an Enmore, ECD resident. Rewtie was in the back seat of the car.

According to the police, enquiries revealed that the car was proceeding east along the northern carriageway of the public road, at a fast rate of speed, when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle spun twice and crashed into a concrete fence just off the road’s northern edge, the police said.

As a result of the crash, Mahadeo was flung through the front windshield and onto the road surface.

Rewtie and the driver were stuck in the vehicle.

An ambulance was summoned and Mahadeo was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver was admitted to  the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH). His condition is listed as critical.
