Guyana and GECOM’s politicking are full of interest and intrigue

Editor

Vincent Alexander is a sage and a wise man. He was, after all, the Registrar of the University of Guyana. He has now served as a GECOM commissioner for 15 years. He is the father of that house. But, has he gained wisdom or simply contrariness on the Commission? Like Rip Van Winkle he seems to have woken up to ‘bloated’ voters lists after all this time. Were they not so in 2015-2020 when his ‘side’ had a working majority on the commission? Did he create then?

On the other hand, could he be right in trying to point out that the new PPP majority are attempting to use the methods of his hero, Forbes Burnham, in allowing overseas voting in Guyana domestic elections? Remember the dead, the phantoms and more. Leave them in the historical locker please. Guyana and GECOM politicking are nothing if not full of interest and intrigue.

Sincerely,

John ‘Bill Cotton/Reform’ Mair
