Roshanie Basdeo was this morning remanded to prison after she was charged with murdering her aunt during the wee hours of Monday morning.
Basdeo, 35, of Bushlot Village, West Coast Berbice, appeared before Magistrate Peter Hugh at the Weldaad Magistrate’s Court, where she was charged with the murder of Sumintra Sawh, also known as “Aunty Betty”, 85, of Lot 131 Section ‘B’ Bushlot Village.
She was remanded to prison.
Basdeo has reportedly confessed to investigators that she murdered the elderly woman after the deceased discovered that she had stolen money from her.
The accused also admitted to inflicting injuries on herself so as to corroborate her initial claims that two men entered the house and robbed and killed the elderly woman.
