Schools no longer have to provide general schemes of work – ministry

New Chief Education Officer, Saddam Hussain has advised heads of schools and practical instruction centres that they no longer need to provide general schemes of work.

In a December 1st Memorandum to all head teachers of nursery, primary and secondary schools and practical instruction centres, Hussain said that the general schemes of work must be replaced by the curriculum guides and syllabi.

The memo said that the ministry is aware of the numerous records that teachers are required to prepare and maintain.

“In some instances, these records have failed to improve the teaching-learning process and have demotivated teachers”, the memo said, adding that with immediate effect the guides are being discontinued.
