Man in suspected Belle West murder/suicide was licensed firearm holder

Peter Charles, the man who is suspected to have fatally shot his partner, Asasha Ramzan before taking his own life on Tuesday was a licensed firearm holder, police sources confirmed.

The bodies of Ramzan of Enterprise, East Coast Demerara (ECD) and Charles, 31 of Canal No.2 were discovered in a locked Nissan X-Trail SUV which was found parked on a deserted section of Clay Brick Road in Belle West, West Bank Demerara.

Thuramania Jhagroo, a security guard had told Stabroek News that she was on duty at the old clay brick factory which is some distance from where the vehicle was parked, when she saw the vehicle at about 10:30am but was unaware that persons were inside.

The woman added that it was not until Charles’ brother and brother-in-law came to ask her for a phone call that she was made aware that there were two bodies in the vehicle.

“I just see the vehicle park at the back deh and then later on I see he brother and he brother-in-law walking come and they ask me for a phone call and I give them a phone call and then they seh that two people dead in the car… that the husband shoot he wife and so they call them relative and the police.”
