Corentyne Chamber calls for security protocols review after attack outside State House

The Central Corentyne Chambers of Commerce (CCCC) has added its voice to the condemnation of the attack at the President Irfaan Ali’s residence, State House, on Thursday.

“We urge that a comprehensive investigation is done to flush out any possible conspiracy with the assailant. Guyana is not a country where this type of activity is known for, and we must zealously ensure that our President and his family remain absolutely safe at all times,” the CCCC said in a press statement. The Chamber urged that the protocols for accessing the gates of the premises of State House must be reviewed and strengthened.

Additionally, it said while President Ali is one of the most accessible presidents in the history of the country, he should review his security protocols for visits to various communities.

The Chamber also urged all the politicians to temper their utterings so that they are not interpreted by their supporters as a call to violence.
