Ministries sign memo on training of electricians

Electricians  will soon receive much-needed vocational and technical training from the Board of Industrial Training (BIT) to become licensed electrical contractors.

This follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Ministry of Labour’s Board of Industrial Training (BIT), and the Ministry of Public Works’, Government

Electrical Inspectorate (GEI) yesterday.

It was signed in the presence of  Joseph Hamilton, Minister of Labour,  Minister of Public Works Juan Edghill,  Richard Maughn, Chief Executive Officer of BIT, and  Kevon Grimmond,

Acting Chief Electrical Inspector of the Public Works Ministry.

According to a release from the Ministry of Labour, Hamilton spoke briefly on the importance of equipping such professionals with the necessary skills and knowledge to operate effectively and efficiently in their respective fields.

This initiative, he believes, is required to improve the skills and craftsmanship of

electrical professionals, the release added.
