Acting Commissioner of Police, Clifton Hicken on Monday urged ranks of Regional Police Division Three to maintain discipline and professionalism despite the challenges they face when executing their daily duties.

He was at time delivering an address at the Regional Police Division Three annual Christmas Luncheon and awards ceremony.

Hicken also allocated $300,000 cash to the division.

In a press release issued on Monday, the Guyana Police Force said that Hicken told the ranks that the modernization that is taking place in the force is necessary in order to strive for excellence.

“The Top Cop reminded the ranks that demands will always be great,” the release said while quoting Hicken as saying “excellent work gives you more”.

The event was held at the Leonora Technical and Vocational Institute during which scores of ranks within the division were awarded for their performance throughout the year.

Sergeant Douglas was named the division’s “Best Cop” this year. He received $100,000 cash and a trophy, the release said.

Prizes were also given out to Station Sergeants and ranks from the Criminal Investigation Department and Operations Room.
