Twenty-five students of the Art Williams and Harry Wendt Aeronautical Engineering School received their certification during the school’s 23rd graduation and prize giving ceremony.

According to a release from the Ministry of Labour, the ceremony was held on Friday, December 16, at the National Cultural Centre and was attended by Minister of Labour, Joseph Hamilton; Board of Industrial Training Chief Executive Officer, Richard Maughn; Chairman of the School Board, Capt. Paul Ronald Reece; Guyana Civil Aviation Authority Director General, Lt. Col. Ret’d Egbert Field; Accountable and General Manager, Nalini Chanderban, Public Relations Consultant, Kit Nascimento; and other dignitaries.

The minister congratulated the graduates on the successful completion of their studies and encouraged them to pursue further opportunities to advance their careers. He also reaffirmed his ministry’s support for training students attached to the institution, especially those from riverine and hinterland areas, through the Board of Industrial Training.

The release also noted that the minister and his technical team met with the institution’s officials just last month, to form a partnership which was cemented by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding. The agreement seeks to target students who may not meet the school’s entrance requirements but can be trained in skill sets common in engineering, with the goal of expanding the school’s operations to cover more competency-based vocational areas.
