2023 promises to be a year no different from its predecessor

Dear Editor,

2023 is off and running, taking over where 2022 left off.  Just a few days old, the year has had a somewhat rocky start – gun play at a bar; policeman and civilian killed by multiple gunshot wounds; another baby died in vehicular accident; pensioner loses home to fire; road accidents continue and the list goes on, amid a sudden visit by a CARICOM leader bestowed with our second highest national award and ugly and damming allegations against the Opposition Leader.   It has to be said though the signing of blank cheques by the former treasurer is not only a blot and indictment on his integrity but it can be discerned a known complicity in a wrong doing. From these beginnings 2023 promises to be a year, perhaps, no different from its predecessor. As we step on the accelerator and envisage the best is yet to come let us endeavour to improve on the events that marked the start to the year.

Sincerely,

Shamshun Mohamed
