Omni Helicopters Guyana Inc last week announced that it has welcomed three Sikorsky S-92A helicopters, and two Leonardo AW139 Search and Rescue helicopters to their base at Eugene F. Correia International Airport.

Local aviation company, Roraima Airways has partnered with the Portuguese firm, Omni Helicopters International, to offer rotor wing services to Guyana’s oil & gas sector.

In early 2022, Capt Gerry Gouveia Jr, Director of Omni Helicopter Guyana Inc, had announced the partnership with the Portuguese company, explaining that there will be a focus on equipping and training Guyanese men and women to meet the needs of the aviation sector, especially as it relates to oil & gas standards. The company has embarked on a multi-year, multi-service agreement with a major international oil company to provide helicopter logistics & transportation solutions.

Omni Helicopters International is a financial holding company based in Lisbon, Portugal that caters to helicopter operators who are servicing the offshore oil and gas industry with aircrafts, financial resources, and advisory services.

It noted that the five helicopters had journeyed from neighbouring Brazil, where they had been prepared for operations in Guyana, with some painted in a colour scheme depicting Guyana’s national colours.

According to the release, Omni Helicopters Guyana “plans on executing future events allowing interested parties to see the helicopters and engage with the pilots, and other crew members, to increase awareness of their commitment to local content and the best practices of a company that truly cares.”
