DJ fatally chopped at Laluni

A 28-year-old Good Hope, East Coast Demerara man was chopped to death last evening following an altercation at a shop in Laluni Village, Linden-Soesdyke Highway.

According to information reaching Stabroek News, Brian Pitam, a Disc Jocky (DJ) by profession, of Lot 441 Good Hope ECD was dealt several chops after he intervened in a physical altercation between his father-in-law and some men.

Police reports say that Pitam and his father-in-law Kumar Bacchus were imbibing at a shop in Laluni when three men confronted Bacchus and one of them dealt him a lash in his face.

Pitam reportedly intervened and was chopped several times following which his three attackers escaped. The injured man was picked up and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. His left thumb, index and middle fingers were said to have been severed. His left wrist was partially severed and there was a large chop wound to the back of the neck. The investigation continues.
