The former data entry clerk now has neither job nor house

Dear Editor,

Now I am seeing in the news that Ms. Elis, the former data entry clerk, was dismissed.  The woman home was bulldozed and all she worked for. She has nothing.  Not even a job nor a house. Tell me in all fairness what is she going to do? I don’t think our sitting government is fully conscious of what is right and what is wrong because if they do, they would have taken a different approach.  So here is where I want to call out the Minister of Home Affairs, Mr. Benn. Why are we doing this to one another? Editor, at the end of the day we all have a conscience and how can we sleep comfortably when our sister does not have a home anymore, how can we?

Where is the love we keep touting and is it a demonstration of the one Guyana? Editor, if we do not drop or rather separate ourselves from this sort of one-sided politics we have been practicing for decades, we would never achieve good. It is unfortunate but we have to face facts because we are living in a real world where this nonsense must be placed in the past. Editor, I am tired of reading these type of stories. I am a born and bred Guyanese and a proud one too and my wish is for us to put away hatred and bitterness and be receptive to loving our brothers and sisters irrespective of our ethnicity.

I hope someone would address Ms. Ellis dilemma in a matured way in order for her to get the help she needs. May God bless my Guyana, our Guyana.

Sincerely,

Yannnason Duncan
