Onghel Walcott, a 38-year-old woman of LaGrange Public Road, West Bank Demerara, was arrested on yesterday morning for the possession of 65 grammes of suspected cannabis and 9 grammes of cocaine at her home.

According to a Guyana Police Force release, between 05:10 and 05:40 am yesterday, a detective sergeant accompanied by two other police ranks carried out a cordon and search exercise at Walcott’s home for drugs, guns and ammunition. On arrival, Walcott was contacted and the police sergeant told her that he had information that she has drugs at her home and as such, would like to carry out a search.

Walcott did not object to the search and invited the ranks into her home. The search was conducted in her presence and in the process a bulky black plastic bag was found on a table in the hall.
