A 44-year-old Procure-ment Officer of the Minis-try of Local Governement was yesterday granted $150,000 bail after he was charged with stealing 44 Stihl brushcutters.
Patrice Henry of 69 Tolimary Place, Melanie, East Coast Demerara appeared before Magis-trate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus and the charges were read to him. It is alleged that Henry, on June 14 and October 16, while being employed by the Local Government Minis-try at Fort Street, Kings-ton, stole 44 Stihl brushcutters valued $5,400,740, property of the Ministry of Local Government. Henry pleaded not guilty to the charge. .
The Court further heard from the prosecution that the accused is still working at the Local Government Ministry and posited that he may interfere with the investigation. The court ruled, upon bail consideration, that since he, Henry, was not a flight risk that he be granted bail at $150,000. Henry will return to court on February 1, 2023.
