Supreme Court employee at Suddie jailed for perverting the course of justice

A 39-year-old typist of the Supreme Court at Suddie on the Essequibo Coast was on Friday sentenced to four months imprisonment after she was found guilty of perverting the course of justice surrounding the death of a man in 2021.

Mariano Persaud also called ‘Mariam’, of Middle Street, Zorg, Essequibo Coast, had been charged with the offence last year which pertains to the death of 25-year-old Arvin Tulsie of Lot 81 Johanna Cecilia which occurred between Wednesday 26 February 2021 and Saturday 30 May 2021 at Zorg.

When Persaud appeared for the trial on Friday at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Esther Sam she was found guilty and sentenced to 4 months behind bars.
