Armed robber grabbed nearly $1m in phones, electronic devices – court hears

Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus yesterday remanded a construction worker to prison after he appeared before her in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court charged with two counts of robbery under arms.

According to the prosecution, Kevin Medas, 21, of ‘D’ Field, Sophia on December 12th at Aubrey Barker Road, South Ruimveldt, while being in company of others and armed with a handgun, robbed Esther Gittens of two Samsung electronic tablets valued at $180,000, two Samsung cellular phones valued $56,000 and $36,000 respectively, along with an Alcatel cell phone worth $16,000 and other electronic devices amounting to $945,000.

It was also alleged that on the said date and address, and while being armed with the same gun, he robbed Kevin Samsear of $10,000. The Administration of Justice Act was not applied and Medas was remanded to prison until February 20th when the matter will be called again.
