Autopsy confirms Vive-La-Force man died by drowning

An autopsy report has confirmed that a West Bank Demerara man who was found dead on Monday at Kamakabra Creek, Ituni died by drowning

The man was identified as Patrick Lord, 31, of Vive-La-Force, West Bank Demerara.

A police report stated that around 06.00 hours on Monday, Patrick, along with his brother, Paul Lord, and their co-workers: Allan Hughes, Roy Joseph, Jermaine Caleb Williams, Andy Seeram, and Randolph Seeram, went to Silicone Green Sawmill at Yarrowkabra on the Soesdyke, Linden Highway.

Later on that day, at about 11:00 hrs, after visiting the Silicone Green Sawmill, they headed to UNAMCO Road, Upper Berbice River, when they stopped in Linden for fuel and food.

At their arrival in Ituni around 15:30 hrs, they made another stop at Rankin Shop to get supplies and consume a bottle of El Dorado 5-year-old rum. After drinking the bottle of rum, they continued their journey but decided to stop at Kamakabra Creek for a swim.

Patrick was swimming near a koker when his brother and co-workers observed that he failed to surface and immediately started to search for him in the water. After about ten minutes of frantic searching, Paul felt him under the water and pulled him out. They rushed him to the Ituni Health Centre, where a medic checked him before transferring him to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The body was taken to the Memorial Gardens Funeral home.
