Mikhail Thadius McLennon, who was previously charged with having fake medical qualifications, saw the charge against him dismissed by Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Providence Magistrate’s Court after the prosecution failed to produce witnesses for his trial.

In October, McLennon of Pattensen, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown was read the charge which stated that on June 3rd at Peters Hall, East Bank Demerara (EBD), not being a licensed medical officer, he held himself out to Bibi S. Hassan as qualified to practice medicine. He pled not guilty to the charge and was placed on $80,000 bail.

It was further revealed that McLennon was carrying out duties unknown at the Guyana Cancer Foundation sometime in June and after being questioned by Hassan, the founder of the institution, about his qualifications, he declined to give any proof of his medical licence.

Following an investigation by the Foundation, a release was issued which stated, “The Guyana Cancer Foundation wishes to notify the general public that Mikhail Thadius McLennon is not a doctor and there are no records to show that he is registered at the Medical Council of Guyana. He had asked to volunteer with the Guyana Cancer Foundation. I took him as a volunteer but then persons from the media and others called to confirm that he is not a doctor.”

Other medical institutions which McLennon claimed he had studied at had also rejected his assertions of him being a student at their institutions.
