Dr Keith Cummings in collaboration with the Georgetown Lions Club, Linden Fund Canada and Linden Fund USA on Friday donated medical supplies to the Linden Hospital Complex.

The supplies, valued $974,226 (US$4,871), included gloves, masks, reusable and disposable gowns, adult briefs, respirators, IV drip sets, nasal cannula, eye goggles, and shields.

Delivering remarks at the presentation, Dr Cummings said that the organisations involved will continue to make donations toward the hospital. He noted that the items presented  represented only a small part of the donation as some hospital beds and other items were already on the way.  The 14 beds, which will be divided between Linden and his hometown New Amsterdam, were valued at some US$5,000 and are expected to arrive in Guyana within 6 weeks.

The organisations focus on the community’s primary needs as these relate to health, education, and social and economic support. Dr Cummings told Stabroek News on Sunday that the organisations also focus on providing any other need to the community that will be beneficial to the residents. He added that Linden Fund Canada will be donating custom-fitted wheelchairs to the Wismar Hill Primary School, Special Needs Department. The donation is part of the organisations’ continuous support to the community.
