New Police Divisional HQ commissioned at Fort Wellington

A spanking new Police Divisional Headquarters at Fort Wellington, West Coast Berbice was commissioned by Minister of Home Affairs, Robeson Benn yesterday.

According to the police press release, Acting Commissioner of Police, Clifton Hicken said the $201m edifice is intended to be a more ‘user-friendly’ space which includes a domestic violence office, witness protection room, case management room, an automated case management system, and an integrated criminal information system. Hicken noted that the structure was built in accordance with the Guyana Police Force’s objectives for decentralization,

Also present at the commissioning were Acting Deputy Commissioner ‘Administration’ Calvin Brutus, Assistant Commissioner Kurleigh Simon, Superintendent Guy Nurse, Regional Chairman Vickchand Ramphal, and other senior and junior officers.
