Ann’s Grove and Dynamic FC romped to quarterfinal wins when the East Coast Mash Cup Football Championship continued on Sunday evening at the Golden Grove Community Centre ground.

Ann’s Grove bested Fruta Conquerors 4 – 2. A goal-keeping error resulted in Fruta Conquerors taking the early lead in the second minute via S. Garnett as the custodian failed to clear the danger after reacting slowly to a through pass which allowed the onrushing forward to finish his effort into the back of the net.

The lead proved to be short-lived for the Tucville outfit, as Shamar Beckles equalised in the fourth-minute compliments of a curling free-kick from outside the left of the box which sailed into the far corner.

Ann’s Grove then seized the 2-1 advantage in the seventh minute as Beckles made his presence felt once more, uncorking a powerful volley from inside the area which settled into the left side.

Clive Andries then got into the scoring act in the 24th minute to make it 3-1, stabbing home past the goalkeeper, following a scrimmage inside the penalty box.

Fruta Conquerors eventually reduced the deficit in the 38th minute in the form of C. Williams who blasted his effort beyond the reach of the goalkeeper.

Nevertheless, Phillip Williams sealed the score-line in the 45th minute, rifling a right-footed strike from outside the 18-yard box into the far corner.

Meanwhile, Dynamic FC downed Mahaica Determinators 2 – 0. Teon Stewart broke the deadlock in the 28th minute, stabbing his effort into the back of the net, following a goal-mouth scrimmage that emanated inside the penalty area.

The result was completed seven minutes later, as Mickelson Evans found the back of the net, racing away from the back-line to latch onto a through pass before slamming his effort past the advancing goalkeeper.

The winner of the tournament will pocket $500,000 and the championship trophy, whilst the second, third, and fourth-place finishers will collect $250,000, $150,000, and $100,000 respectively, and the corresponding accolade.
