Sol Guyana Incorporated  on Wednesday opened a “sleek” US$2.8m service station on Mandela Avenue.

Sol is the Shell licensee and customers can also purchase items such as lubricants and Sol Gas cylinders on the forecourt and a range of on-the-go, convenience items from the Sol Shop.

General Manager of Sol Guyana, Earl Carribon in his address highlighted that in addition to the availability of Shell-branded fuels products, customers also stand to benefit tremendously from the accessibility of the new location in the city.

The new Sol service station

“Our team’s goal is that customers have a completely hassle-free experience at the new Shell-branded Mandela Service Station. On arrival the first thing customers will notice is the sleek layout of our new forecourt. For motorists, the modern layout allows for a seamless transition from Mandela Avenue right up to one of our four spacious pumps and the benefit of being back on their way in minimal time. There is also ample walking and parking space for individuals and drivers to conduct their business both on the forecourt and in the Sol Shop convenience store”, he said.

The project is one in a series that Sol has in store for Guyana. Carribon said that the Investments will enable Sol to stride with the growth trajectory of Guyana. Construction began in 2022 and Carribon said that the company was affected by weather conditions, materials shortages due to the high level of construction activity in the country and logistical challenges.  Sol was however still able to complete the project within budget and within the designated time.

Prime Minister Mark Phillips congratulated the company on the  “sizeable investment” and for showing faith in the economy.

Carribon noted that Sol has been here for 17 years.

“To our Guyanese community, who we’ve served for over 17 years, we are humbled by your unwavering support. We are honoured to operate in Guyana and to continue to build a Community of loyal customers, staff, suppliers, partners and stakeholders, who have and will continue to contribute to our success over the years, as we continue to build the Shell brand in Guyana”, he said.

The Sol Group of companies operates in 23 countries across the Eastern Caribbean, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Bermuda, Bahamas, Cayman, Belize, Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, Martinique, and Guadeloupe. It supplies fuels, lubricants, bitumen, LPG and renewable energy solutions through an extensive service station network, with marine, aviation and commercial operations.
