Last two members of Teaching Service Commission sworn in

President Irfaan Ali administered the Oath of Office to the last two members of the Teaching Service Commission (TSC) yesterday  morning at the Office of the President on Shiv Chanderpaul Drive.

The members sworn in were Lancelot Baptiste and Satti Jaisierisingh, a release from the Office of the President said.

In December last year, Maydha Persaud, Doodmattie Singh,  Joan Ann David-Monkhouse,  Shafiran Bhajan, and Mohammed Saddam Hussain were sworn in as members of the TSC.

The Teaching Service Commission is in charge of appointing and disciplining teachers.

During brief remarks, President Ali said that the functions entrusted to the commission must “not be taken lightly”, the release said.

He charged the representatives to be faithful to their oaths and to execute their duties with professionalism.

“Your actions will contribute, in no small measure, to ensure that the teaching profession is populated by persons that are worthy of educating the present and future generations”, he said.

The government is still to complete proceedings in relation to the appointment of the Public Service Commission and the Judicial Service Commission.
