Guyana donates to quake-hit Türkiye, Syria

Following the 7.8 magnitude earthquake which struck Türkiye and

neighbouring Syria on February 6 2023, resulting in thousands of fatalities and the dislocation of thousands, the government here has taken a decision to donate US$50,000 to each of the two countries.

A release yesterday from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that President Irfaan Ali wrote to the Presidents of both countries, conveying solidarity and support on behalf of the Government and people of Guyana.

The monetary contributions will be channelled through the United Nations.
