Haslington woman dies after flung from speeding car

A Haslington, East Coast Demerara woman died yesterday after the car she was in ran into a trench.

The police yesterday said in a statement that Samantha Moffatt, 41, a vendor of Haslington New Scheme was in motor car PZZ 7712 at the time. It was being driven by a 24-year-old of Lot 78 Middle Walk, Buxton.

According to the police, enquiries disclosed that the car was speeding on the Enmore Public Road when its driver lost control and the vehicle ended up in the trench. Moffatt, who was in the front passenger seat was flung from the car into the trench where she suffered injuries.

She was picked up by public-spirited citizens in an unconscious condition and taken to the GPHC by the Emergency Medical Technicians along with the driver.  On arrival at the hospital, the driver fled, the police  said.

Moffatt was seen and examined by a doctor on duty and admitted as a patient. She later succumbed
