Popular city businessman busted with cocaine by CANU

A popular city businessman was on Friday arrested by the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) after he was found with two suitcases containing a quantity of cocaine at his home in Festival City.

Forty-four-year-old Royston Peniston also called ‘Fat Joe’, of Festival City, North Ruimveldt, Georgetown, and owner of the Blue Iguana Night Club in Alberttown, Georgetown, was found to be in possession of the narcotic when the unit raided his home late Friday night.

The two suitcases and cocaine that were handed over

CANU in a release yesterday said that their officers conducted an operation at Peniston’s property where they discovered two hardside suitcases which were in the house at the time. The suitcases were searched and two parcels containing a quantity of whitish, powdery substance suspected to be cocaine were found.

Peniston was then informed of the alleged crime committed, cautioned, arrested, and escorted to CANU headquarters along with the suspected narcotics where it tested positive for cocaine with a total weight of 2.178 kilogrammes (5 pounds) with a street value of $2.1 million.
