Muslim Youth Organisation (MYO) recently recorded a four-wicket win over 4R Lions in a high-scoring contest in the Georgetown Cricket Association/ Atlantic Marine Supplies Suzuki Motorcycles second-division, T20 tournament.

Winning the toss and electing to bat at the Queen’s College ground, Lions posted 185 for nine from their allotted 20 overs while MYO reached 190 for six with a ball to spare.

MYO was powered to victory by Richard Latiff who fell one run short of a triple-figure score, hitting nine sixes and seven fours during his 46-ball shootout.

Latiff lost his opening partner, Chien Gittens and then Ryan Shun cheaply, before teaming up with Omesh Dhaniram to put on 90 for the third wicket. Dhaniram made 20 from 21 balls after hitting two fours and a six in his supporting role before he was trapped leg before wicket to Nizam Khan (1-20).

Sagar Hatiramani chipped in with a 16-ball 21 while Yogi Singh and Marlon Boele made 16 runs each. Matthew Pottaya was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3-28 while Natron Gill bagged 2-39.

Earlier when Lions batted, Rashad Gafur top scored with 62. He struck five sixes and six fours during his 33 balls stint. Gafur added 85 for the third wicket with Tomani Caesar who made 55 from 31 balls. Caesar’s innings was highlighted by six sixes and two fours.

Khan made 25 from 15 balls while Romeo Deonarain was the only other batsman to reach double figures with 13.

Latiff returned 4-26 while Shun took 2-33.
