Former IDB head part of Peruvian investment delegation

Former Inter-American Development Bank Presi-dent, Luis Moreno, was part of a Peruvian investment delegation that last week met President Irfaan Ali.

The Office of the President on Saturday posted that Ali had met with a group from Peru but none of the names of the persons in the Peruvian delegation was named.

“President Dr. Irfaan Ali, today, met with an investment group from Peru and discussed the advancement of a pilot project to use satellite and telecommunications to advance the education sector in the hinterland and the use of drone technology for the delivery of medication and other services to far-reaching areas,” the photo caption for the meeting stated.

It noted that Ali was joined by Senior Minister within the Office of the President with responsibility for Finance, Dr Ashni Singh; the Minister of Education, Priya Manickchand; the Director of Presidential Affairs,  Marcia Nadir-Sharma; and Advisor to the Minister of Health, Dr Leslie Ramsammy.

Moreno is a Colombian businessman and former diplomat who served as president of the IDB from 2005 to 2020. He was also at one time Colombia’s Ambassador to the United States.
