Body of woman found on Leguan beach

At around 7.12 am yesterday, an unknown person called and reported seeing what appeared to be a body at Uniform Beach, Leguan Island, Essequibo River.

As a result of that report, Police ranks left for the area, and on arrival, the body of a female was seen motionless, facing upwards, washed up on the beach. The body was clad in a black brassiere, with what appeared to be a silver wedding ring on her finger and a silver chain around the neck.

The undertakers and ranks picked up the body, which was transported to Parika Stelling in a private boat. The woman’s identity remains unknown.

The body was then escorted to Leonora Cottage Hospital and pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty. The body was then escorted to Ezekiel Funeral Parlour, awaiting a Post Mortem Examination to determine the cause of death.

The Guyana Police Force is appealing to members of the public for any assistance in helping to identify the woman (or her family/relatives).
