Levi Vanhogen appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on 16th June before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly to answer the charge of assault that was read to him.

It is alleged that on Tuesday 13th June, he unlawfully and maliciously assaulted Tanisha Smith to cause her actual bodily harm. The prosecutor told the court that the defendant and the virtual complainant were known to each other and had been in a relationship for the past eight months.

According to the facts of the case, around 22:15 hrs, Smith was at home rubbing her son’s back when the defendant walked in the yard and dealt her two cuffs to the left of her face below the eye. The woman then ran into her neighbour’s yard for safety.

The matter was reported to the police, Smith later went to seek medical attention and the defendant was arrested and charged. The prosecutor objected to bail, which was refused by the magistrate, and the defendant was remanded to prison until 30th June, 2023.
